Itinerary Overview
Day 1 - Mexico City

Welcome to Mexico! Your private transfer will pick you up and take you to your hotel, so you can check in. At 6pm there is a welcome meeting with your tour leader. In this meeting you can clear any doubts, review the itinerary, ask for recommendations, reservations, etc. You will then be taken to dinner for a welcome dinner in a lively restaurant nearby. Your leader will show you around on the way, so you know where everything is (ATM’s, pharmacies, etc. )

Modern meets ancient in Mexico City – one of the world’s largest urban centers. Although crowded and smoggy, D.F. (Distrito Federal) offers a great variety of impressive museums, galleries and architecture, along with exciting night life and delicious street food. Although in a quiet street, your hotel is situated in one of the best places for nightlife. Zona Rosa boasts many great bars and clubs. 10 minutes away is Colonia Condesa and Colonia Roma which have many bars, restaurants and nightclubs. If you want something a bit fancier, 15 minutes away is Polanco, the chicest neighborhood of the city with many great places to choose from. Make sure you make a reservation wherever you want to go as it is usually busy, your tour leader will help you with this.

Across the street from your hotel is the Metro, however, if you are going out at night, we recommend taking an uber or a taxi from the hotel for safety reasons.

Day 2 - Mexico City

Today, this beautiful city is yours to explore. There is so much to choose from! But after a night out, recover like a real Mexican over breakfast: chilaquiles and micheladas. Your leader will help you out. If you like art, Coyoacan is the neighborhood for you. Frida Kahlo Museum is a must-see as well as the Anahuacalli museum, and a few steps away you have the Coyoacan market which has delicious food and great souvenir shopping as well as little cafes and bars to have a drink and watch the world go by. For all museum lovers there’s also the Museum of Anthropology or the Palace of Fine Art.

In the evening, if you’re feeling like experiencing a traditional Mexican night out, take an optional cantina, mariachi & lucha libre tour. This begins at approximately 5pm taking you to different cantinas where you can listen to mariachi play while sipping on tequilas and mezcal. In the evening, you go to the famous lucha libre show.

Day 3 - Mexico City

Enjoy a guided city tour of Mexico City. You’ll visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, Zocalo, National Palace and Museum of Anthropology. After that, the day is yours to spend as you please. Otherwise, just outside of the city, the colorful Xochimilco gardens and canals where you can eat, drink and hire live mariachi music while floating in your own trajinera.

Alternatively, you can choose to take an optional day trip to the archaeological ruins of Teotihuacan, 50 kilometers out of the city. A local guide will lead you down ‘The Avenue of the Dead’, pointing out the historic Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon. Don’t forget to snack your way around the city too, munching on tostadas, tortas, and chicharrones all day long.

Day 4 - San Ignacio

Today you travel to San Ignacio, a lush tropical region brimming with waterfalls, warm swimming holes and the intricate cave systems of the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. First of all, take a flight to Belize City (not included) where you will be picked up and taken to San Ignacio (about 1,5 hours). Upon arrival, your tour leader will give you an orientation walk of town, so you can find your way around and give you some recommendations for the evening.

Day 5 - San Ignacio

This morning you will be picked up and drive for about 1,5 hours before arriving to our adventure. After a short safety briefing and gearing up with helmets, waterproof headlamps, and tubes. You will begin hiking through the jungle for about 45 minutes before entering one of the many cave entrances and passages that make up the cave system.

After tubing, stop for a snack and swim in a beautiful natural swimming hole, before continuing through the last of the passages, the most active of the three caves. Here you can view amazing cave formations and see colonies of bats that call the cave home. You will enjoy a delicious homemade picnic lunch before driving back to San Ignacio.

Day 6 - Tikal

Today you leave your hotel in San Ignacio at around 8:30 am, taking the 30-minute private drive to the border. After crossing from Belize into Guatemala, travel by private vehicle, stopping for lunch on the way, and arriving to Tikal around 1 pm. Tonight we camp on the grounds of a hotel which is located close by to this majestic Mayan site. Regroup at 2 pm to explore the National Park until sunset (approximately 3 hours). Towering above the jungle, the five granite temples of Tikal are an awesome sight and one of the most magnificent Maya ruins. Hidden in the jungle growth is a maze of smaller structures just waiting to be explored. The energetic can climb to the top of the ruins for spectacular views over the canopy. You may even spot toucans, macaws and other colorful birds.

Day 7 - Ambergis Caye

If you haven’t had enough of Tikal, you have the option to visit the site again at sunrise this morning (entrance fee not included). Otherwise it’s a long travel day, (approx. 6-7 hours depending on border crossing conditions) so you’ll leave the campsite by private vehicle at 7 am. Once in Belize, board a water taxi (1 hour) to San Pedro.

The Belize Cays are a group of islands a short boat ride away from the coast. From here it is possible to arrange day trips to other cays, to the best reefs for snorkeling, or simply to take a local boat out to the reef of Caulker itself. Each island has its own particular character, but all of them have the unmistakable Caribbean pace and charm.

Day 8 - Ambergis Caye

This day is a free day at leisure. There are many activities to choose from in San Pedro. whether you want to relax by the beach and soak up the sun, snorkeling, scuba diving or even a helicopter tour, the choice is yours! Your tour leader will help you with any arrangements you may need.

Day 9 - Ambergis Caye

This day is a free day at leisure. There are many activities to choose from in San Pedro. whether you want to relax by the beach and soak up the sun, snorkeling, scuba diving or even a helicopter tour, the choice is yours! Your tour leader will help you with any arrangements you may need.

Day 10 - Depart Belize City

Your trip comes to an end today. After taking the water taxi back to Belize City, your transfer will be waiting to take you to Phillip SW Goldson International airport. Have a safe trip back home!
