Trip Overview

Over the last decade, Seattle has been one of the fastest growing major cities within the US, increasing their population by over 20%. Strong business conditions have fueled the population growth, increased diversity, and driven local economic growth. With such rapid growth, Seattle’s entertainment/experience industry has evolved into one of the most unique in the country. From professional sports teams, to concerts & events, to an adventure seekers paradise, there are endless options to choose from. After being stuck at home for nearly 2 years, experiences are more in demand than ever before. However, with such a crowded market, experience-centric companies compete for consumer interest on a daily basis.

Release the Kraken! Join us on this 3-day general capstone program where we will work to solve a current business challenge in our case competition with the NHL’s newest franchise, the Seattle Kraken. We’ll tour the arena, get a behind-the-scenes view of a professional hockey team, and learn about the challenges of being an expansion team in American professional sports. In this highly interactive course, Gies students will also have the opportunity to meet and learn from multiple stakeholders across different Seattle based experience-centric companies. Last but not least, you will have plenty of time to network with your fellow iDegree classmates
