  • If you would like to include any pre or post nights at the hotel, please select the total number of nights you would like to include during the check-out process. There will be a follow up question in the registration form that will ask you the dates you would like the extra room nights.

  • Please note, pre/post nights and single supplements are based on availability. If you purchased an add-on and there is no availability at that time, you will be notified immediately and refunded in full for any additional add-ons that were not available.

Country-Specific Information:

  • The Department of State has issued a Travel Advisory Level 4 for Greece advising U.S. citizens not to travel to Greece due to COVID-19.
  • Greek authorities continue to announce very high numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.  As of February 23, 2022, Greece reports 2,353.577 cumulative cases according to the National Public Health Organization (https://eody.gov.gr/) and the Government of Greece (covid19.gov.gr/covid19-live-analytics).
  • PCR Test Requirement for Entry to Greece:  Effective Monday, February 21, 2022 travelers to Greece with a valid EU Digital COVID Certificate who are traveling from EU member states, Schengen Zone countries, or certain non-EU countries (view list here) may enter Greece without a predeparture PCR or lab rapid test.  The vaccination certificate is valid for 9 months after completing the basic vaccination and indefinitely for those with a booster dose.   International travelers from the U.S. aged 5 and above with a valid vaccination certificate may enter Greece without a predeparture PCR or lab rapid test.  The vaccination certificate is valid for 9 months after completing the basic vaccination and indefinitely for those with a booster dose.  Unvaccinated travelers or those with a certificate of recovery must show proof of a negative PCR test performed up to 72 hours before the scheduled arrival or a rapid antigen test performed up to 24 hours before scheduled arrival. Certificates of recovery are valid for 180 days after their issuance date.   For further details, monitor Greek government websites Protocol for Arrivals in Greece and Destination Greece Health, and check with your airline prior to travel.
  • Proof of Vaccination or Negative COVID Test Required for Most Businesses and Public Services:  As of Monday, November 22, 2021, the Government of Greece has restricted access for unvaccinated individuals to many categories of businesses and public services if they cannot prove vaccination or recovery from COVID-19.  Customers seeking access to these facilities are required to present a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or documentation of recovery from COVID-19.  Under the new rules, unvaccinated adults:
    • Cannot access/enter: Enclosed eating areas, entertainment facilities (cinemas, theaters), museums, exhibition centers, fitness centers and sports venues. These facilities may be accessed only by those who are fully vaccinated or have documentation of recovery from COVID-19.
    • Can enter only with a negative lab rapid test or PCR test: Unvaccinated individuals seeking access to churches, schools, public and private sector places of work, retail shops, hair salons, or outdoor eating areas may enter by presenting a negative laboratory rapid test no older than 48 hours OR a PCR test no older than 72 hours.
    • Can enter with no documentation requiredUnvaccinated individuals can enter supermarkets, bakeries, sweet shops, pharmacies and urban public transportation.
    • Children aged 4 to 17 may access the top two categories of facilities with a negative self-test taken within the last 24 hours, documented via the Self-Test Declaration form. Children under four do not need to show any documentation.
  • U.S. CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card Is Acceptable Proof of Vaccination: The Ministry of Development and Investment issued a press release dated November 10, 2021 which states that “The General Secretariat of Commerce and Consumer Protection of the Ministry of Development and Investment points out to the consumer public and to catering, entertainment and retail companies that according to par. 2 of article 9 of JMD D1a / GP.oik.69136 (B ‘5138) “Emergency public health protection measures against the risk of further spread of the coronavirus COVID-19” that the entry and service of foreign customers holding a certificate of vaccination or recent illness from a country outside the European Union is allowed by simply showing the paper vaccination certificate and showing a document of identity (passport), without requiring the application of COVID Free with GR ». In addition, the Tourism Ministry has clarified by press release that individuals vaccinated in countries that do not belong to the European Certificate program may enter these businesses by presenting their printed or electronic vaccination certificate.  The CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card documenting COVID-19 vaccination for many U.S. travelers should be accepted, though customers are recommended to be patient with businesses working to comply with Greek health measures and also have a Plan B to try another business.  We recommend that you carry a printout of the Ministry of Development and Investment press release and Tourism Ministry press release to show in case you encounter any difficulty with businesses hesitant to accept the CDC card or other U.S. proof of vaccination. 
  • Entry Still Limited; PLF Form Still Required:  Greece continues to only allow entry for EU and Schengen citizens and for individuals residing permanently in the United States, EU and Schengen states, and certain other countries.  All travelers entering Greece must fill out the Passenger Locator Form before travel and present the QR code received in response in order to board Greece-bound flights.  Review the “Entry and Exit Requirements” section below as well as travel.gov.gr for more details.
  • COVID Documentation Required for Island and Mainland Transport:  All passengers traveling to mainland and island destinations by any transport means (train, bus, plane, or ship) must present documentation as described in the “Movement Restrictions” section below and the GreeceHealthFirst.gr website
  • Questions on Travel to Greece?: Greek authorities have posted answers to many Frequently Asked Questions about travel to and within Greece at travel.gov.gr and greecehealthfirst.gr.  The Greek National Tourism Organization has also launched the Visit Greece app, which includes detailed COVID-19 travel updates, as well as a map of COVID-19 diagnostic testing locations.  The Visit Greece App is available for download via Google Play or the App Store.
  • Masks Still Required; Other Restrictions Still in Effect:  Greek authorities continue to enforce other restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including restrictions on certain business and entertainment operations, restrictions on the size of gatherings, and capacity limitations for public transport and businesses. As of December 24th at 6:00am through January 3rd, masks are mandatory in all indoor and outdoor spaces. Double mask or high protection-type (such as an N95) mask is required in supermarkets and on public transportation.  Additional information is available in English at travel.gov.gr and in Greek at the Civil Protection website and the Greek government’s COVID-19 Measures website.

Entry and Exit Requirements:

  • Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes, depending on country of residence
    • Greece continues to only allow entry for EU and Schengen citizens and for individuals residing permanently in the United States, EU and Schengen states, and certain other countries Review detailed information on GreeceHealthFirst.gr and travel.gov.gr and make sure you review requirements for transit countries prior to departure as well.
    • If you are a resident of a country not listed on travel.gov.gr and/or otherwise need further clarification on whether you may enter Greece, contact the closest Greek Embassy or consulate, as well as your airline prior to travel.  The U.S. Embassy in Athens cannot give you permission to enter Greece or request exceptions to Greece or EU travel restrictions.  We also cannot assist you with interpreting Greek regulations beyond the information provided on this website.
    • The Greek authorities have posted answers to many Frequently Asked Questions about travel to and within Greece at travel.gov.gr and greecehealthfirst.gr.
    • All travelers who are eligible to enter Greece must complete the online Passenger Locator Form (PLF) before entering Greece.  See the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs post on procedures for international arrivals.  Travelers with connecting flights to Greece report overnight delays for failing to fill out the PLF prior to travel.
    • For any questions regarding this form, the Greek Government has instituted a PLF Hot Line at +30-215-560-5151, available Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm in English and Greek.
    • Many land borders open.  Per GreeceHealthFirst.gr, travelers are allowed to enter through the land borders at the Promachonas, Ormenio, Evzonoi, Nymfaia, Niki, Doirani, Kristallopigi, Kipoi, Kakavia, Mertziani, Mavromatio, Kastanies, and Exochi entry points.  Travelers entering by land must also submit the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) on travel.gov.gr before they arrive.
  • Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? Yes, depending on vaccination status

    • PCR or other types of COVID-19 tests and/or health declaration forms may still be required by transit countries.  Review requirements for all countries in your itinerary prior to travel.
  • Are health screening procedures in place at airports and other ports of entry? Yes
    • All visitors from air, land or sea, will be subject to random tests upon arrival. Upon being tested, travelers move to their final destination.  In the event of a positive result, they will be contacted and placed on a minimum 10-day quarantine, with expenses covered by the Greek state.  All visitors must abide by all COVID-19 health protocols in place by the Greek Government without exception.  The U.S. Embassy in Athens cannot intervene in the mandatory isolation procedures or request an exception on behalf of the traveler.  Travelers may contact the General Secretariat for Civil Protection directly at +30 213-15100 or send an email to generalsecretary@civilprotection.gr / generalsecretary@gscp.gr.
    • Ferry operators and airlines require travelers to complete a health status questionnaire, submit to a temperature check, and wear a mask.  The health form is available here in English and Greek, and provided by transportation operator on site.
