Start your trip in Portugal by drinking through the many vineyards in Porto’s famous Douro Valley. Enjoy the beaches and food of Lagos before hopping over to Morocco. The souks and medina Marrakech are full of energy, color, and delicious flavors. Finish off your trip with a hike up the Atlas mountains and relax with a traditional Moroccan Hammam.

Itinerary Overview
Day 1 - Porto

Welcome to Porto! Stretching along the banks of the River Douro, Porto is one of Portugal’s most romantic cities. Known for majestic bridges, medieval riverside district with its cobbled streets, merchants’ houses and cafes. Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting around 6pm. Please double check with reception to confirm the time and place. We’ll be collecting your insurance, passport details and next of kin contact number at this meeting, so please have these on hand. After the meeting you will head out with your fellow travelers for a group dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 2 - Porto

Start off the day with a guided walking tour to find out where the main sites are located. You will also discover some of the lesser known parts of the city with your local guide. You can spend the evening soaking up the atmosphere of this coastal strolling along the riverside or observing local life in action from one of many rooftop bars.

Day 3 - Porto

Enjoy a full-day tour of the Douro Valley. See the beautiful landscapes of the Duoro River region on a relaxing drive around the villages of Sabrosa and Pinhao, home to the stepped terraces and vineyards where port is made. Visit two wineries, learn about port production and enjoy a tasting or two of this signature wine of the region. Enjoy a lunch at a traditional restaurant before returning to Porto in the late afternoon. You can spend the evening soaking up the atmosphere of this coastal strolling along the riverside or observing local life in action from one of many rooftop bars.

Day 4 - Lagos

Today we will fly to the Algarve, Portugal’s stunning southern coast, where your destination is the seaside town of Lagos. Set on the banks of the Rio Bensafrim, Lagos is gifted with a temperate Mediterranean climate, a bounty of beaches and a rich heritage. Go for a guided walking tour around Lagos’s old town, which is enclosed within 16th century walls and filled with pretty cobbled streets and picturesque plazas and churches. In the evening, why not head to feast on freshly caught fish at a restaurant or cafe overlooking the water and behold a golden sky at sunset, before throwing yourself into Lagos’ pumping nightlife.

Day 5 - Lagos

Most of today is free to enjoy Lagos and its surroundings. At some point during the day (depending on availability) you will enjoy included boat tour around Algarve’s rocky cliffs. Explore the jagged, weathered rockface of Pinta da Piedade, full of arches, towers, grottoes and caves that have been eroded into this fabulous limestone coast. Your tour leader will inform you about the exact time in advance, so you can plan other activities around that. For the rest of the day, perhaps pack a book and towel and head to the beach. The vast sands of Meia Praia stretch for over four kilometres, and it is peppered with beach bars, cafes and sun lounges. Also, plenty of water sports are on offer in the summer. This evening we head out for a food tasting crawl in the many local restaurants located around the town.

Day 6 - Marrakech

Today you leave Portugal behind and fly to Marrakech. Welcome to Morocco!!

Upon arrival to Marrakech airport, you will be met and driven to your hotel in Marrakech. After a welcome meeting with your Moroccan tour leader, you will have the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 7 - Marrakech

Meet your local guide this morning and set up for a morning tour of the medina of Marrakech. Start the tour by visiting Bahia Palace and its courtyards filled with the scent of orange blossom, and the many salons and chambers. This splendid mansion was built in 1866 for a former slave who rose to power within the government. Continue to Koutoubia mosque for an exterior visit of its famous minaret that looks like La Giralda in Seville, Spain. The rest of the day is at leisure. After a lunch at leisure, you will be invited for a cooking class at La Maison Arabe. With the help of a dada or Moroccan chef and using easy-to-use modern equipment found in everyday kitchens, you will learn how to cook a Moroccan dish.

Day 8 - Armed

Today, you will journey to the high Atlas Mountains. Upon arrival, store your main luggage and load daypacks onto pack mules before walking into traditional mountain village life with a one-hour trek up to the peaceful village of Armed. Check in the gite and set up for a hike in the mountains.

Day 9 - Marrakech

Today, leave Armed and drive back to Marrakech for your last night in Morocco. You will be invited for a home cooked dinner in the heart of the medina of Marrakech with a local family. Please note that there is no alcohol available.

Day 10 - Depart Marrakech

There are no activities planned for the final day and you are able to depart the accommodation at any time.
