Welcome to Buenos Aires!
Buenos Aires is home to 11 million ‘portenos’, a name given to the inhabitants of Buenos Aires that literally means ‘residents of the port’. It has been shaped by a history riddled with conflict and struggles. Even the achievement of independence in 1816 did not resolve ongoing disputes between local residents and conservative provincial landowners. However, following a succession of military juntas, Argentina now has a stable, democratic government. This is a free evening and you may like to consider dining out in one of Buenos Aires’ famous steak restaurants. Your tour leader or the hotel concierge can help you to book this.
Your adventure begins with an important welcome meeting at 6pm. Your leader will leave a note at the hotel reception telling you where this important meeting will take place.
At the end of the day dinner Tango-show at “La Ventana”. In the heart of San Telmo, La Ventana Barrio de Tango opened its doors to the world in 1982. This fully restored historic tenement is a classic walk-through of the Buenos Aires culture through the ages. The interiors, which preserve the purest of the building, with 32 artists in scene, two tango orchestras, a collection of folk music, dancers and singers. Our menu includes international and local dishes of our country, with the traditional charcoal grill and a large Argentine wine.
