Looking to decompress from a challenging summer term? Ready to spend time in nature after weeks in the classroom? Eager to bond with your classmates and make memories? Then join your peers at the new MFin Community Trek!

Capitalizing on the MIT core values of Curiosity, Openness and Community, the MFin Trek invites you to explore, connect and make memories with your classmates in breathtaking outdoor settings, far beyond campus. This non-academic trip will give you the incredible opportunity to develop lasting friendships, while also learning about local economic and business contexts.

*Pricing is based on double occupancy accommodations.

Important Registration Information

Please see below for important trip information and registration support.

  • There will be a trek info session hosted on April 5th from 12:00-12:30 pm EST.

  • Registration will close as soon as 30 students have signed up. There will be a very limited waitlist in the event a registered student needs to drop.

  • A minimum group size threshold must be met for this trip to operate. If the group size is insufficient, registered participants will be offered either 1) the opportunity to join the other MFin Trek (pending availability) or 2) a full refund. Participants will be notified by June 7th if the minimum threshold is not met.

  • There will be a pre-departure meeting approximately 1-2 weeks prior to your trip. Details regarding the pre-departure meeting will be shared after you have registered for the trip.

  • When registering, please create an account so you can log back in to change any information, if needed.

  • Please select quantity “1” for the Trip Price package during registration. All other packages are optional depending on your travel plans.

  • The trip payment is non-refundable after June 23rd. Given the trip is non-refundable, we strongly advise you to purchase travel insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances that would prohibit you from travel. You can purchase travel insurance using the link here, or find your carrier of choice in an open marketplace.

Important Flight Information

Please see below for important trip information and registration support.

  • Please note, you are responsible for booking your roundtrip airfare to Panama City, Panama. Unless you are planning pre or post travel, you should book a flight in and out of Tocumen International Airport (PTY)

  • You can arrive into Panama City (PTY) at any time on Wednesday, August 28th. There are currently flights on United, America, Copa, and Avianca. You will be responsible for your own transportation to the hotel. Check-in is at 3:00 pm and our welcome orientation will kickoff in the lobby at 6:00 pm.

  • You can depart out of Panama City (PTY) at any time on Monday, September 2nd. We will have group transportation that will drop off at the airport at approximately at 9:00 am. If you depart outside of this time, you will be responsible for your own transfer to the airport.
